The golden white sandy beaches that embrace the eastern corner of the island are considered one of the main assets of the most popular holiday resort of Agia Napa. Safe, shallow, calm and crystal clear water have made this coastline a true paradise for sea and water sport lovers. Agia Napa once a small fishing village and was later hailed as the Ibiza of the Eastern Mediterranean, has in recent years toned down its clubbing image and reformed itself into a resort for all the family.
The medieval Monastery located central to Ayia Napa was built in 1570 by the Venetians and stands in the midst of clubs, bars, shops and restaurants. However on entering its walls the outside world disappears in its quiet ambience.
As a commercial tourist resort, Agia Napa has its advantages in offering a fantastic selection of diverse restaurants catering to every taste from McDonalds to Mexican, Chinese, Indian and so many more. Restaurants are tastefully decorated and all serve scrumptious food, have attentive service and vibrant ambiences. The harbour is very well known for its fish cuisine and is also frequented by the locals.
On the outskirt of Agia Napa is the beautiful area of Agia Thekla. It is becoming an extremely sought after location as it is one of the few places on the island that has remained free of commercial development and multi storey hotels. You may spend days on its golden sandy beaches and not hear a singel footstep.
