The coastal town of Limassol is planning an ambitious facelift that will be done in several phases begining 2009 and completed by 2011. Regeneration along the seafront, including cycling routes and walkways has added a new flair and charm to Limassol. The old town also currently under restoration promises an exciting revival of quaint bohemian cafes.

In January 2008, the Cyprus Trade, Industry and Tourism Minister signed contracts for the construction of a new marina which is valued at Euro 170 million and will accommodate 1000 yachts, in and out of the water. In addition to berthing, the marina project will include dining, residential, shopping and coference spaces as well as a green park.

In addition, the City Council has formally aprpoved the budget for over Euro 17 million worth of spending on development works which includes thecreation of more parking spaces in the city, construction of a municipal cultural center, improvements on the coastal road reclamation area and to create new green and park areas.

There is a wide range of property available and some of the island's largest mansions are found in Limassol.
