Tourism revenue up 3.1 per cent in January

Revenue from tourism reached €39.6m in January 2019 compared with €38.4m in the same month of the previous year, recording an increase of 3.1 per cent, the statistical service said on Thursday.

According to Cystat, expenditure per person per visit fell on average to €483.26 in January compared with €506.49 in the same month last year, a decrease of 4.6 per cent.

Expenditure per person/per day fell by 3.5 per cent from €56.28 to €54.30.

A decrease of 1.1 per cent was also recorded in the average length of stay, from nine days in January 2018 to 8.9 days in January 2019.
